Doa Bapa Kami dapat didoakan sendiri maupun bersama dengan doa-doa lainnya. Menurut kitab perjanjian baru, dalam injil Matius 6: 5-15, doa Bapa Kami merupakan doa yang diajarkan oleh Yesus Kristus kepada para murid-Nya. Doa ini mengandung tujuh permohonan yang terbagi mejadi dua bagian, yaitu untuk memuliakan Tuhan dan untuk kebutuhan kita yang berdoa. Oleh karena itu, sebaiknya jika sedang mendaraskan doa- doa spontan maupun doa hening, kita tetap mengucapkan doa Bapa Kami ini dengan sikap batin yang baik.
